Today, Sony Music Nashville/Columbia Records singer/songwriter Megan Moroney shares her new song “Man on the Moon” — an anthem for shaking off someone who won’t stop sending mixed signals. The latest in a series of can’t-miss releases from the Country superstar, “Man on the Moon” will appear on Moroney’s immensely anticipated sophomore album Am I Okay? (due out July 12). Listen to “Man on the Moon” here, and go here to pre-order/pre-save Am I Okay? now.

Written by Moroney, Ashley Gorley, Casey Smith, and David “Messy” Mescon, “Man on the Moon” marks one of the most fun-loving and free-spirited tracks on Am I Okay? In a departure from the soul-baring songwriting that’s earned her the nickname the Emo Cowgirl, the Country-Rock bop flaunts her more playful side as Moroney takes on a man who can’t make up his mind (from the opening lines: “Houston, he’s a problem/He’s leaving then he’s calling/He’s a headache and a half and I can’t win”). By the time she reaches the chorus, Moroney has found the perfect solution to her frustrations: “Somewhere far, let him fly/Out of this world and off my mind/C’mon there’s gotta be a rocket somewhere taking off soon/I think it’s time we put another man on the moon.” Once again proving her incredible power as a lyricist, Moroney infuses every moment of “Man on the Moon” with so much heart and raw emotion — even as she tosses off one killer line after another (from the second verse: “I don’t mean to sound dramatic/But can somebody call NASA/Or a billionaire with money to burn?”).

Produced by Moroney’s frequent collaborator Kristian Bush (who handled production for all of Am I Okay?), “Man on the Moon” matches the whip-smart wit of her storytelling with a fittingly fiery sound. As she lays down a glorious vocal performance packed with plenty of attitude, the unstoppably catchy and hand-clap-fueled track unfolds in swinging rhythms, smoldering steel guitar, soulful B-3 organ, and a wildly blazing guitar solo at the bridge.

Fresh off her debut appearance on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon — where she delivered a stunning rendition of Am I Okay?’s “No Caller ID” — Moroney is now gearing up to take the stage at Nissan Stadium and the Chevy Riverfront Stage as part of CMA Fest 2024. On June 25, fans can check out Moroney’s must-see performances when CMA Fest airs on ABC.

Along with “Man on the Moon” and “No Caller ID” — a January release that set the record for the biggest Country female song debut in streams in the U.S., racking up 8.4 MILLION global streams in its first week alone — Am I Okay? will include “28th of June” (a heart-melting piano ballad about the pain of honoring a would-be anniversary) and “Indifferent” (a larger-than-life anthem that captures the pure thrill of realizing you’ve finally gotten over your ex). One of the most highly awaited albums of 2024, Am I Okay? arrives on the heels of Moroney’s blockbuster debut Lucky — a critically acclaimed LP that landed on best-of-the-year lists from major outlets like The New York Times and Rolling Stone and featured smash hits like 2X PLATINUM, No. 1 breakout single “Tennessee Orange” and chart-rising Country radio single “I’m Not Pretty.”

ABOUT MEGAN MORONEY:
One of Country’s biggest breakout stars in recent years, Megan Moroney first burst onto the scene with her RIAA 2X PLATINUM hit single “Tennessee Orange” — an immediate smash showcasing her true-to-life storytelling, unforgettable vocals, and strong-minded yet fiercely sensitive point of view. Along with notching her first No. 1 at Country radio and landing on coveted lists like the Los Angeles Times’ “100 best songs of 2023,” “Tennessee Orange” soon found the Sony Music Nashville/Columbia Records artist winning Breakthrough Female Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards and making her debut appearances on major TV shows like TODAY, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Good Morning America, and New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash. A Georgia native who got her start singing covers with her dad and brother — and later began penning her own songs while studying accounting at the University of Georgia — Moroney made her massively acclaimed full-length debut with 2023’s Lucky: a powerhouse body of work that turned up on best-of-the-year lists from leading outlets like The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Billboard, and The Associated Press (who hailed her as a “Gen Z songwriter with Taylor Swift-level acuity”). Produced by Kristian Bush and built on a timeless collision of Country, Folk, and Southern Rock, Lucky also revealed the lived-in intimacy and electrifying impact of her songwriting on tracks like “I’m Not Pretty” (her current single, praised by Billboard as a “cheeky, defiant clapback”). Continuing her meteoric rise, she recently won the New Female Artist of the Year prize at the 59th ACM Awards while earning nominations by CMA, iHeart, and Billboard Music Awards, in addition to appearing at The GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles as part of its illustrious SPOTLIGHT series in the midst of her sold-out THE LUCKY TOUR — a fall 2023 run that brought her magnetic live show to iconic venues across the U.S. Recently featured on Forbes’ 30 Under 30, MusicRow’s Next Big Thing Class of 2024, and Country Radio Seminar’s New Faces of Country Music, she kicked off 2024 with her stunning new song “No Caller ID.” With her sophomore album Am I Okay? due out in July — and over 1.1 BILLION total global streams to date — Moroney is out with Kenny Chesney on his SUN GOES DOWN 2024 TOUR and performing at high-profile summer festivals like Lollapalooza.
