Jess Kellie Adams is joined by TikTok influencer Cam Payne in her new video “I Was.”  The song was written and produced by Lonestar’s, Dean Sams and the video was directed by Bryson Sams of TapeSlate Productions.  The story starts with Jess and Cam leaving their respective childhood homes to chase their dreams.  They meet along the way as Jess rescues Cam when his car breaks down and find out they’re both bound for Nashville.  Along the way they share their backgrounds, slowly realizing how similar their pasts were and that they were both raised on similar values.

When discussing the inspiration to record the song, Jess said, “I’ve learned to embrace kindness, empathy, and compassion. These influences formed who I am today, and I am so grateful for that. As I look back, I am reminded of the power of family traditions and the beauty of simplicity. My heart remains humbled on all I was raised on.”  Cam echoes her thoughts, saying he immediately related how the song parallels his life, “I was raised on a simple way of life, Saying “yes ma’am/no ma’am”, standing for the pledge of allegiance, and raised to love completely, just as Jesus does to us. “I Was” captures these lessons that impact how I live now, and I believe the song will resonate with people from all generations.”

About Jess Kellie Adams  With rural roots that traverse Texas, Ohio, and Tennessee, Jess Kellie Adams is swiftly blazing a path on the Country scene.  Having opened for Justin Moore, Rodney Atkins, Parmalee, Craig Morgan, and Ernest, her brazen lyrics and fierce vocals are carved from the leading, only-one-name-needed ladies that serve as the foundation and current face of the genre.  It’s her authentic connection to her real-life stories that she captures in her songs that has enabled her to connect with fans on stages across the country.  What she values most, her family and community, are ever present in her sound and persona.
