Throughout the track, Cam paints a vivid picture of a country boy captivated by a beautiful girl amidst the bustle of a crowded bar on a busy night. He relates his reaction to her presence with something as powerful as a heart attack. It’s a country anthem about the instant connection and excitement of talking to someone, not knowing where the night might lead. As the song goes on, each verse unfolds just like a conversation.

During the recording process, Cam teamed up with talented producer Corey to craft a song that pulses with infectious energy and radio-worthy appeal. Reflecting on his time in the studio, Cam shared, “Recording all of the ad-libs and harmonies was a ton of fun because it’s the first song that has had this many bells and whistles. I felt like an absolute idiot at times, but Corey is a killer producer who made it all come to life.” Cummings explained that Florida Georgia Line was his primary inspiration for the production elements featured in “Heart Attack”. He said, “I loved their ad-libs and energy, so I tried to get as close to that as I could”.

Cam expresses his dreams for the single, stating, “I hope they listen to it and say, ‘Man, that needs to be on radio.’ We wanted to produce something that was worthy of radio in terms of style, production, lyrics, and vocals.” Cam says, “I genuinely think that we accomplished that.”

“Heart Attack” seamlessly blends traditional country storytelling with modern production elements, ensuring its appeal to longtime fans and those new to the country music scene. This song is sure to resonate with anyone who has experienced the rush of a new, strong, and all-encompassing attraction to someone. Press Release: Cam Cummings never thought he would be pursuing music as a career. Growing up as a
naturally gifted athlete in his hometown of Thorsby, Alabama (population 2,178), Cam played what he calls “the big 3” in the south…baseball, basketball and football. Realizing early on that it was easy for him to master many of the skills required for sports, Cam ultimately decided to focus solely on baseball, which led him to playing the sport for four years at the University of South Alabama. Cam says he ultimately realized that playing or practicing baseball 7 days a week wasn’t an endeavor he wanted to continue to pursue, so he inadvertently turned his attention to a second love…music

Having watched his dad play guitar in bands (and “in good ones”, Cam adds) and listening to his mother belt Tracy Chapman and Elvis Presley tunes around the house while growing up was
an in inspiring experience. Cam says that “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Talkin’ Bout A Revolution” continually on repeat instilled in him a sense of melody and a love of music.

Cam began tinkering with piano at age 13 when his dad bought him a keyboard, but he says he didn’t truly learn to play an instrument until he took up guitar as a junior in college.

As a songwriter, Cam is inspired to write about his experiences and how he was raised.

“I think it’s important to pay homage to the people and places that helped raise me”, Cam explains, “and it may give people some insight on how I grew up.”

Cam took that point to heart with his self-written 2021 single “This Town”, an ode to small town life that undoubtedly speaks about the richness of his experiences growing up in the rural south.

Cam’s debut single, “What Happens Next?” is now approaching nearly 100,000 streams on Spotify alone and the video of his acoustic cover of Train’s “Drops of Jupiter” went viral on YouTube shortly after being uploaded to the platform.
